Adamawa Communities Capture Killer Hippo Displaced by Floods

A rogue hippopotamus that killed a young man in Banjiram village has finally been captured, ending days of fear across southern Adamawa State.

The massive animal, believed to have been displaced by flooding from the Kiri Dam area, was caught by a group of brave youths in Shelleng Local Government Area after it strayed into the community.

The hippo’s rampage began after severe floods forced rivers to burst their banks, pushing wildlife and danger into human settlements. The fatal attack on July 28 in Guyuk LGA sparked panic and a community-wide hunt for the animal.
