A$AP Rocky Says Rihanna’s Billions Don’t Faze Him, Teases Her New Album

American rapper A$AP Rocky has addressed comparisons between his wealth and that of his partner, Barbadian singer Rihanna, stating that her billionaire status does not make him feel insecure or threatened.

Speaking during a recent episode of the Jason CC Show, Rocky said he takes pride in Rihanna’s financial success rather than viewing it as a measure of his own worth. He noted that while Rihanna’s fortune is estimated at $1.4 billion, his own wealth sits in the multi-million dollar range, a gap he said carries no weight in how he views himself.

“My woman got billions, I got multi-millions. Her success isn’t mine. I am proud of my woman. No one can make me insecure because she is richer than I am. It just doesn’t make sense,” Rocky said.

The rapper also spoke with his close friend, media personality Jason Lee, in an interview aired on Wednesday, August 5, 2026. In the clip, Lee asked Rocky how Rihanna changed him from someone who avoided commitment into a settled partner.

Rocky said this had nothing to do with Rihanna’s fame or fortune, pointing instead to a period of personal loss as the moment that defined their bond.

“This don’t got nothing to do with her accolades or her money. The truth of the matter is, when my dad died she was there for me,” he said.

He recalled the circumstances surrounding his father’s death, which occurred around Christmas in 2012 while Rocky was in Paris, France. He said he had stopped answering his phone during that period, but Rihanna still found her way to him.

“My first album went No. 1, my dad died on Christmas. I was on my bathroom floor in Paris crying. She called me some reason to congratulate me. We were both in Paris. Shorty rushed to my side. I don’t even know how Rihanna got the key to my room. I stopped answering my phone, and she walked right in, ‘Yo, you good?’ That really was my friend,” Rocky said.

He described Rihanna as a steady presence through difficult periods in his life, calling her a strong woman who stood by him even at his lowest points.

A$AP Rocky also confirmed that Rihanna is currently working on new music, addressing a long-running joke among fans that he was the reason behind the delay of her next album.

During an interview on The Jason Lee Show, host Jason Lee asked Rocky directly, “Are you the reason why we don’t have an album?” The question referenced years of speculation among fans that the delay stemmed from Rocky and Rihanna’s relationship, their growing family, and Rihanna’s various business ventures.

Rocky dismissed the idea and revealed an update on the project’s status. “Nah,” he said. “She in the studio right now. Yeah, I said it. Sorry, babe.”

He continued, “Bro, she working. She cooking, no funny shit. Damn, I’mma get in trouble for this. Her fans are going to kill me.”

It has been a decade since Rihanna released her last studio album, Anti, in 2016. The project debuted at number one and spent two weeks atop the Billboard 200 chart, producing fan favorites such as “Work,” “Needed Me,” “Love on the Brain,” and “Desperado.” Since then, she has released standalone singles tied to film soundtracks, including “Lift Me Up” and “Born Again” for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, and “Friend of Mine” for Smurfs.

Rihanna has previously given limited updates on the project, referred to by fans as R9. In a 2024 interview with Entertainment Tonight, she said she was “starting over” but did not want to disregard songs she had already recorded, adding that she wanted to revisit that material “with new ears” and a fresh perspective. In a separate 2024 interview with Interview magazine, she said her creative process for the album had shifted, explaining, “I usually have the music first, and the music leads me into all of these visual opportunities, and now I’m having all of these visuals.”

Elsewhere in the interview, Lee asked Rocky whether fans could expect a joint album featuring the couple on every track. Rocky rejected the idea outright.

“Nope,” he said. “I would hate Rocky and Rihanna if they both did that. That’s trash. Nobody wants to hear us together, bro.”

He explained that their musical styles do not align, describing his own sound as “subversive weird ass indie rap” made for what he called a niche audience that understands it.

Rocky and Rihanna confirmed their relationship in October 2020, though speculation about them dating began circulating in late 2019. The couple shares three children: sons RZA, born in May 2022, and Riot, born in August 2023, and a daughter, Rocki Irish Mayers, born in September 2025.
