There are two primary ways human beings manage suffering: addressing the root cause or numbing the pain.
In medicine, analgesics and opioids are vital tools for short-term pain management. However, when physical pain persists and an individual chooses continuous palliation over treating the underlying condition, dependency inevitably sets in. Over time, reliance on the remedy becomes a habit, the dosage increases, and the individual may even view anyone urging them to confront the source of their illness as an adversary. Taking a pill is simply easier than undergoing surgery.
A remarkably similar dynamic occurs on a psychological level and its primary medium is religious dogmatism.
When people face acute hardship, uncertainty, or emotional distress, religious mindsets can act as a mental analgesic. Like medical painkillers, they offer immediate, temporary relief. But when life’s difficulties mount and systemic problems remain unaddressed, the tendency to seek larger and more frequent doses increases.
What begins as a search for comfort can gradually evolve into a cycle of dependency.
The Presence of Pain in the form of Economic hardship, governance failures or personal crises create deep distress.
Rather than providing actionable solutions to concrete problems, religious mind control and manipulation offers emotional soothing and deferred promises is applied to suppress symptoms.
Then, the individual returns every Friday or Sunday and increasingly throughout the week for higher doses of mental comfort through rigid routines and emotional exertion.
Afterwards, people gradually begin to detach from Reality. Eventually, the drive to solve the actual problem diminishes. Living in the temporary euphoria of spiritual reassurance becomes preferable to facing harsh realities.
When this threshold is crossed, coping turns into addiction, leaving individuals psychologically dependent on the very system that keeps them passive.

This is a wide spread Epidemic in Nigeria, evidenced by the number of active religious Homes across the country.
The country is already in a state of Religious Junky Syndrome.
Nigeria today is grappling with a profound form of collective religious addiction. Millions of citizens have become so reliant on spiritual palliation that the capacity for critical analysis and systemic problem solving has been severely eroded.
This environment fosters a symbiotic partnership between political actors and religious figures.
Political leaders are the primary problem creators. While they fail in governance, creating widespread poverty, infrastructure decay, and social anxiety. The Mind Controllers, Religious opportunists step into the breach, soothing the frustrated populace, encouraging endurance over accountability, and directing focus toward the metaphysical rather than the physical.
This cycle ensures that citizens remain fixated on numbing their symptoms rather than demanding or building structural solutions. The result is a society increasingly detached from practical reality.
The Path Forward
If a nation is to progress, its citizens must be able to distinguish between temporary emotional relief and actual problem solving. Just as regulatory bodies such as NAFDAC as in the case of Nigeria, protect public health from counterfeit or dangerous drugs, a society needs intellectual and civic safeguards against psychological exploitation. Our society urgently needs a Religious NAFDAC.
Belief should inspire accountability, character, and constructive action and not serve as an escape from reality. Until we learn to identify and dismantle the true sources of our social and economic pain, we will remain a nation of bystanders, waiting for miracles while the house continues to burn.
In a religiously polarized world, I know that the percentage of people that will understand this will be too minimal but I write for posterity. I write to save those who are not yet addicted.
I write to awaken the few Leaders who are not religiously addicted. To stand up and save this nation from this widespread Religious junky syndrome by acting as psychiatric hospital, remove the sufferings of the people so that they will have no reasons to become dependent on mind controllers.
