The Universal Basic Education Commission has concluded a five-day regional thematic workshop on Book Supply Chain and Track-and-Trace System under the HOPE Education Programme.
The workshop, held under Result Area 1, Phase 3 of the programme, brought together officials from State Universal Basic Education Boards and State Ministries of Education across the North-East and North-West geopolitical zones.
Participants included officers responsible for procurement, academic services, and Education Management Information System and Information and Communication Technology.
According to a statement by the Department of Corporate Communications, UBEC, the workshop was designed to strengthen participants’ capacity to manage book supply and tracking processes effectively.
The commission said the training also focused on procurement and distribution practices aimed at ensuring the timely, cost-effective, transparent and accountable delivery of teaching and learning materials to schools.
It added that participants were trained on monitoring and evaluation mechanisms, the use of Key Performance Indicators, reporting frameworks and feedback systems to improve implementation outcomes.

During the five-day workshop, participants engaged in practical sessions, peer-learning activities and hands-on demonstrations of the Track-and-Trace System.
The system is designed to monitor the movement of books from procurement to their delivery to schools and classrooms.
UBEC said the training would enable participating officials to improve transparency, accountability and efficiency in the distribution of learning materials across their respective states.
The commission reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening basic education delivery and ensuring that teaching and learning materials reach schoolchildren effectively.
