Former presidential aide to ex-President Muhammadu Buhari, Bashir Ahmed, has expressed delight after Kano State emerged as the top-performing state in the country’s National Examinations Council (NECO) rankings for the second consecutive year.
In a post shared on his X handle, Ahmed said Kano recorded 74,413 candidates who obtained at least five credits, including English Language and Mathematics, in the examination.
He said the performance placed Kano first nationwide, following the state’s similar feat in the 2025 NECO examinations.

According to the data shared by Ahmed, Lagos State ranked second with 72,496 candidates meeting the requirement, while Oyo State came third with 55,543 candidates.
Celebrating the achievement, Ahmed commended Kano State for its continued performance in the examination.
“Well done, Kano!” he wrote.
