Troops Arrest Three Suspected Terrorist Collaborators, Destroy Enclaves in Kaduna, Katsina

Troops of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have recorded fresh operational successes in Kaduna and Katsina states, arresting three suspected terrorist collaborators, recovering weapons and ammunition, and destroying terrorist enclaves in separate operations.

The operations, conducted on August 27 and 28, 2026, were carried out as part of ongoing efforts to disrupt terrorist networks and deny them freedom of movement and access to logistics across the Joint Operations Area.

In Kaduna State, troops of Sector 1, acting on credible intelligence on August 27, arrested a suspected terrorist collaborator found carrying two locally fabricated firearms and 13 rounds of ammunition concealed in a bag.

During preliminary interrogation, the suspect reportedly disclosed that he had been assigned to deliver the weapons and ammunition to another individual.

Acting swiftly on the information, troops launched a follow-up operation and arrested two additional suspects allegedly linked to the movement of the weapons.

The three suspects, alongside the recovered firearms, ammunition and other items, are currently undergoing further investigation.

Meanwhile, troops of Sector 2, in collaboration with other security agencies, carried out a clearance operation on August 28 targeting identified terrorist enclaves around Maharba and Karaduwa in Matazu Local Government Area of Katsina State.

The troops successfully cleared and destroyed the enclaves and other structures reportedly used by the terrorists to facilitate their criminal activities.

One of the destroyed enclaves was linked to notorious terrorist leader Kachalla Muhammadu Filani, whose group has been terrorising communities in Matazu and Musawa Local Government Areas.

According to the Joint Task Force, Filani narrowly escaped as troops advanced on the enclave.
A subsequent exploitation of the area led to the recovery of an RPG-7 tube, a motorcycle, mobile phones and other items.

Troops also conducted further fighting patrols across the area to consolidate the gains of the operation and prevent the terrorists from regrouping or reclaiming the territory.

The Joint Task Force said the latest operations underscore its sustained campaign to dismantle terrorist networks, disrupt the movement of weapons and logistics, and deny terrorists safe havens across the Joint Operations Area.

It reaffirmed its commitment to intelligence-driven and coordinated operations aimed at degrading terrorist capabilities and restoring lasting peace and security to affected communities.
