The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Anambra State has condemned reports of an attack on political supporters and the vandalisation of a campaign vehicle belonging to Hon. Nnamdi Ifebi, popularly known as Onwa Idemili.
The party described the reported incident as a threat to democratic participation, insisting that political competition should be driven by ideas, character and service to the people, rather than intimidation, violence or destruction of property.
In a statement issued by its Publicity Secretary and Head of Media and Strategic Communications, Comrade Linus Anagboso, popularly known as BIGPEN, the ADC called on relevant security agencies to investigate the incident, identify those responsible and ensure that anyone found culpable is brought to justice.
The party also urged political stakeholders and supporters across the state to exercise restraint, shun retaliation and respect every citizen’s right to participate freely in the democratic process.
“Political differences must never become grounds for violence,” the party stressed, calling for collective efforts to protect democracy and uphold the rule of law.
The ADC reiterated that political disagreements should be resolved through peaceful engagement and democratic processes, warning against actions capable of undermining political tolerance and public safety.
