Fayose Calls for El Rufai’s Release, Questions Political Treatment

Social media commentator and activist Prince Isaac Fayose has called for the release of former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El Rufai, while questioning the changing political fortunes of those who have supported or criticised President Bola Tinubu.

Fayose made the call in a Facebook post, where he reflected on the former governor’s current situation and his previous role in defending Tinubu during a controversial appearance at Chatham House in the United Kingdom.

The News Chronicle reports that Fayose contrasted El Rufai’s present circumstances with the positions of some politicians who previously criticised him but are now closer to the seat of power.

“My friend, take life easy,” Fayose wrote, adding that the person who answered questions for Tinubu at Chatham House was now in prison while those who criticised him were in the palace.

Fayose’s remarks have added to ongoing public discussions about El Rufai’s detention and the political treatment of former and current allies within Nigeria’s political landscape.

The activist, however, did not provide further details about the circumstances surrounding his call for El Rufai’s release.
