Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has sparked fresh transfer speculation after revealing that the Spanish giants are preparing a major signing expected to be announced next week, while dismissing reports linking the club with Erling Haaland and Harry Kane.
The News Chronicle reports that Perez made the disclosure during a television appearance, where he suggested the club is close to completing a deal that could become the most expensive transfer in Real Madrid’s history. According to him, the mystery player is valued at around €150 million and currently plays for one of Europe’s top Champions League sides.
The veteran football administrator also outlined other targets reportedly on Madrid’s radar, including Jose Mourinho, Ibrahima Konate and Denzel Dumfries, but maintained that an even bigger acquisition is on the horizon.
Perez’s remarks follow a heated presidential election at the club in which challenger Enrique Riquelme pledges audacious signings of his own in an effort to unseat the long-serving president.
Highlighting Madrid’s financial strength, Perez pointed to the club’s growing world value and economic stability as evidence that it still draws the top players.
As excitement around the football world grows, next week’s expected announcement, which could change Madrid’s future plans and control the summer transfer window, takes front stage.
