Controlled Explosion Exercise Set to Hold at Ramat Polytechnic, Maiduguri -Police

The management of Ramat Polytechnic, Maiduguri has announced a planned controlled demolition exercise to be carried out by the Nigeria Police Force.
In an official notice issued by the institution’s Central Administration, obtained by The News Chronicle on Tuesday, the exercise will be conducted by the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Unit (EOD-CBRN), Base 13 Maiduguri.
The operation will involve the safe disposal of recovered Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) and Unexploded Ordnances (UXOs).
According to the statement, the exercise is scheduled to take place on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at the EOD-CBRN Training School in Maiduguri.
The polytechnic assured staff and students that all necessary safety measures and Standard Operating Procedures will be strictly followed to safeguard lives, property, and the environment.
However, the management cautioned that loud explosive sounds may be heard during the operation, urging members of the institution and nearby residents not to panic but to remain calm and continue with their normal activities.
Authorities have also directed deans, directors, and heads of departments to ensure the information is widely circulated across the institution for awareness and compliance.
The notice was signed by Deputy Registrar (Central Administration), Ibrahim Sadiq Mohammed, on behalf of the Registrar.
