We Will Prevail Against Insecurity, Tinubu Tells Armed Forces During Iftar

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Friday assured Nigerians and members of the Armed Forces that the country will ultimately overcome all forms of insecurity, stressing that the sacrifices made by military personnel will not be in vain.
The President gave the assurance during an interfaith breaking of fast with members of the Armed Forces at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
Tinubu reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to improving the welfare of officers and soldiers serving on the frontlines across the country. He acknowledged the challenges faced by troops who often stay away from their families while confronting bandits and terrorist groups.
“I commend your courage, sacrifice, and professionalism as you put your lives on the line in defence of Nigeria’s sovereignty and the safety of its citizens,” the President said.
He noted that the persistent efforts of the security forces have continued to weaken the capabilities of terrorists and bandits operating in different parts of the country. According to him, Nigeria remains grateful for the dedication of the armed forces in protecting the nation’s territorial integrity.
Tinubu also assured the military of continued government support through investments in modern equipment, intelligence gathering, and improved logistics to strengthen their operational effectiveness.
The President further thanked Nigerians for their patience and endurance during the ongoing economic reforms, saying the country was gradually overcoming its economic challenges.
“I am happy to inform you that your sacrifices and those of fellow citizens are not in vain. We are now out of the dark tunnel,” he said.
During the event, Tinubu also expressed sympathy to the government and people of Borno State over recent terrorist attacks in the state.
Earlier, the Chief of Defence Staff, Christopher Musa, represented by the Chief of Army Staff, Olufemi Oluyede, commended the President for approving measures aimed at improving the welfare and operational capacity of the armed forces.
Oluyede noted that the approvals included salary increases for military personnel, improved allowances for members of the Brigade of Guards, procurement of equipment, and provision of better accommodation for soldiers.
He said the initiatives would significantly enhance the operational efficiency of the Nigerian Armed Forces and boost the morale of troops serving across the country.
