The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has arrested members of a notorious car-snatching gang and recovered N15 million as well as seven stolen vehicles in Abuja.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Miller G. Dantawaye, announced the arrest on Wednesday. He explained that the breakthrough followed credible intelligence and digital forensic tracking.
Four suspects, ex-convict Dalhatu Bashiru, Nwadigo Emmanuel, Uchenna Kalu, and Alhaji Jazuli Adamu, were taken into custody.
The recovered vehicles include a 2008 Toyota Prado SUV, a 2009 KIA Optima, a Toyota Corolla, a Toyota Camry (pencil-light model), and another Toyota Corolla.
The main buyer of the stolen vehicles, Alhaji Jazuli Adamu, was arrested in Fagge Local Government Area of Kano State with N15.28 million meant for a new batch of stolen cars.
Police investigations also revealed that Adamu was working with an accomplice, Alhaji Abdulkarim Gabeida Ibrahim, a Niger Republic national, who handled the cross-border sale of the stolen vehicles. He is still on the run.
CP Dantawaye praised police officers for their dedication and urged residents to install working car trackers and share credible information to support police efforts in keeping the FCT safe.
