Shallipopi Calls Out Dapper Music Over Alleged Exploitation and Betrayal

Nigerian musician Shallipopi has taken a bold stand against his former record label, Dapper Music, accusing them of financial mismanagement and betrayal of trust.

This revelation comes just weeks after the artist announced his departure from the label in November 2024.

In a statement shared on Wednesday, Shallipopi didn’t hold back as he shed light on his grievances.

He expressed his disappointment with the label, alleging that his finances were mishandled and his rights as an artist were ignored.

I am officially ending my agreement with Dapper Music and Dvpper Digital,” Shallipopi declared.

“This was not a decision I took lightly, but one I had to make after my trust was shattered, my finances mishandled, and my rights disregarded.”

The singer didn’t stop there. He highlighted the broader implications of his experience, pointing out the challenges many creatives face in the industry.

This is bigger than just me,” he wrote. “It’s about every artist and creator who pours their heart and soul into their craft, only to be met with betrayal and exploitation by those meant to support them.

It’s about standing up for fairness, integrity, and the respect we all deserve.”

Shallipopi accused the label of prioritizing profits over his growth as an artist, claiming this jeopardized both his career and his dreams.

“Instead of focusing on my progress, they chose to prioritize their own gains, putting my aspirations at risk,” he concluded.

The artist’s public statement has sparked conversations around the treatment of musicians and creators in the industry, shedding light on the pressing need for transparency and fairness.
