Ahmed Musa Promises Nigerians The AFCON Title

Super Eagles captain Ahmed Musa has promised Nigerians on their keen interest and readiness to bring the coveted 2023 Africa Cup of Nations home by February during their sent forth dinner with Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo Olu in Lagos.
It’s been 11 years since the Super Eagles lifted the biennial title — in which Ahmed Musa and Kenneth Omeruo are the only players who still get a invited by the Super Eagles since Nigeria triumphed over Zambia in 2013.
“We are ambitious and we will do our best. The AFCON is an important tournament for every African player, and we are all looking forward to giving our best to make the nation proud,” Musa said.
The Super Eagles team arrived in Abidjan, the State capital of the Ivory Coast yesterday, appearing in a colourful native green and white attires ahead of their first game against Equatorial Guinea on Sunday at 4pm.
The 2023 tournament kicks off on January 13 and will be played until February 11.

The Super Eagles of Nigeria have been rated the sixth favorite nation to win the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, scheduled to kick off this weekend in the Ivory Coast.
According to Livescore, defending champions Senegal have the highest percentage of 12.8 to retain the trophy. The host nation, Ivory Coast, is the nearest to the Lions of Teranga with a 12.1% rating. Nigeria made the sixth spot with 8.0% behind Morocco, Algeria, and Egypt who are rated with 11.1%, 9.7%, and 8.5% respectively.
Senegal, who are rated with the highest percentage, defeated Egypt in the last AFCON tournament to lift their first-ever in Cameroon. Egypt remains the most decorated nation with 7 AFCON titles.
Nigeria has been champions three times in history, with the most recent win in 2013 when the late Stephen Keshi guided the Eagles to the coveted award. Before then, the Super Eagles were champions in 1980 and 1999.
Nigeria is drawn into group A along with host natnationsory Coast, Equatorial Guinea, and Guinea-Bissau.The three-time champions will start their journey to their fourth on Sunday when they take on Equatorial Guinea. On the 18th of January, the Eagles take on the host nation, while their last group-stage game will be played against Guinea-Bissau on the 22nd of January.
