Eid-il-Fitri: Sulu-Gambari urges Muslims to pray at home

—

The Emir of Ilorin, who doubles as Vice President-General of Jamat Nasri Islam, Dr. Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari has directed Muslim brethren in his community and environs to observe the Eid-il-Fitri prayers at home to flatten the curve of COVID-19 that has ravaged the global scene in recent times.

Sulu-Gambari said this on Wednesday in a statement issued and made available to newsmen in Ilorin, saying this is necessary for strict compliance with the current social distancing directive occasioned by the novel coronavirus pandemic.

He stated that the directive is in conjunction with the Council of Ulamau in Kwara State at preventing the spread of coronavirus from having a veritable space in the state.

The monarch reiterated the need for the sacrifice as it is aimed at public safety and protecting the lives of all and sundry across the 16 local governments in Kwara.

Parts of the statements read:

“The emir in conjunction with the Council of Ulamau in Kwara has directed all Muslim faithfuls in the state to observe their two Eid-il-Fitri rakats (Nafilat) in their various homes or areas of domicile with members of their family only.

“Muslims are reminded that the first rakat of the Nafilat attracts seven (7) Allahu Akbar while the second final rakat attracts reading 6.

“The directive of the State Government concerning keeping social distancing among others at this time of covid19 aimed at protecting lives and public safety must be complied with by the worshippers,” he said.

He, therefore, congratulated the entire Muslim communities in the state, in advance, for witnessing the end of 2020 Ramadan and prayed to Allah to accept it as an act of ibadah.
