The All Progressives Congress (APC) has constituted its Presidential Campaign Council ahead of the 2027 general elections, with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima named chairman and vice chairman respectively.

The council, unveiled on Saturday, also named former Zamfara State Governor, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, as Director-General, while Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, will serve as secretary.

APC National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, was appointed vice chairman, while National Secretary Senator Ajibola Bashiru and Hadiza Bala-Usman will serve as deputy and assistant secretaries respectively.

The campaign council chairman, President Tinubu, will be supported by a council of advisers comprising former APC National Chairman, Chief Bisi Akande; Chief Segun Osoba; Senator Rochas Okorocha; former Senate President Abdullahi Adamu; and Senator Florence Ita Giwa.

Senate President Godswill Akpabio, House of Representatives Speaker Tajudeen Abbas and Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni were appointed deputy director-generals for the southern and northern zones. They will work alongside Senator Opeyemi Bamidele and Senator Jibril Barau.

Former Edo State Governor, Senator Adams Oshiomhole, will serve as deputy director-general in charge of mobilisation, while the President’s Chief of Staff will oversee administration as deputy director-general.

James Abiodun Faleke, who played a prominent role in the APC’s 2022/2023 presidential campaign, is returning as deputy director-general for election planning, coordination and monitoring.

Faleke will coordinate zonal directors, including Senator Olushola Adeyeye for the South-West, Dr Ngozi Olejeme for the South-South, Senator Uche Ekwunife for the South-East, Muntaqha Rabe for the North-West, Ahmed Muhammed Ketso for the North-Central and Senator Sani Danladi for the North-East.

Stella Okotete, Engineer Abdullahi Garba Ramat and Audu Maikori were named secretaries of the election planning directorate.

The legal directorate will be headed by Muiz Adeyemi Banire, with Dr Liman Hassan and Babatunde Ogala serving as deputies. Other members include Prince Lateef Fagbemi, former Katsina State Governor Ibrahim Shema, Worgu Boms and Dr Kingsley Tochukwu Udeh.

For media and strategic communication, Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris Malagi, was appointed coordinating director, alongside Dele Alake, Bayo Onanuga and Lanre Issa-Onilu.

Tunde Rahman, Sunday Dare, Daniel Bwala and Felix Morka will serve as coordinating deputy directors, while Abdulaziz AbdulAziz, Temitope Ajayi, Arabinrin Aderonke and Frederick Nwabufor were named coordinating secretaries.

Segun Dada returns as Director of New Media, a position he held during the 2022/2023 campaign, while Solomon Arowolo will serve as secretary of the New Media directorate.

The campaign council also named five spokespersons, led by Dele Alake. Others are Alwan Hassan, Ayobami Oyalowo, Kemi Asekun-Shittu and Adamu Fanda.

In a charge to members of the council, President Tinubu urged them to work relentlessly to secure victory for the APC in the January 2027 elections.

He also directed leaders of the various directorates to bring on board other party members who were not formally listed but could contribute to the campaign effort.

According to a statement by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy and coordinating director for media and strategic communication of the campaign council, Tinubu said the APC had delivered on its campaign promises and placed Nigeria on the path of economic progress.

“We have delivered on our campaign promises and set our country on a path of economic progress. We are definitely out of the dark tunnel and are now at the cusp of reaping the benefits of a prosperous economy that will benefit all Nigerians,” Tinubu said.

He urged the campaign team to highlight the administration’s achievements and use them to inspire voters across the country.

“As we march into the campaign season, we have many achievements to trumpet; let us confidently showcase our record and inspire hope in every corner of our nation.

“Let us soundly defeat all those forces who plan to take our country backwards.” He said.
