No fewer than 10 people have lost their lives, while several others sustained varying degrees of injuries in a fatal motor accident along the Jama’are–Azare highway in Bauchi State.
The crash occurred as a commercial vehicle conveying passengers was travelling from Gombe to Kano. The vehicle, with registration number KTG 181 ZZ, was reportedly carrying 19 passengers at the time of the incident.
The Bauchi State Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) confirmed the accident, attributing it to excessive speeding, which caused the driver to lose control of the vehicle.
According to the FRSC, those who sustained injuries were immediately rushed to the Federal Teaching Hospital, Azare, for medical treatment, while the bodies of the deceased were deposited at the hospital’s morgue.
The corps advised motorists to adhere strictly to speed limits and other traffic regulations to prevent avoidable road
tragedies.
