YouTube is currently testing a new feature designed to enhance the experience for content creators by allowing them to edit their videos to remove age restrictions and restore content affected by Community Guidelines violations.Â
Previously, creators faced a frustrating process of appealing age restrictions or removals, with only a single chance to contest the decisions.
With the new editing option, eligible creators can make changes directly in YouTube Studio.
After submitting their edits, YouTube will review the adjustments and may subsequently lift the restrictions or strikes placed on the content.
However, the traditional appeal option remains available for those who prefer not to edit their videos.
This feature targets creators who may have overlooked edits or were unaware of recent policy changes.
Many creators have expressed dissatisfaction with YouTube’s existing Community Guidelines and the striking system, emphasizing the need for more flexibility.
In addition to this testing, YouTube is developing policies concerning AI usage in videos, especially in relation to sensitive content.
The platform has also previously introduced a training program that allows creators to erase strikes by adhering to community rules.
Overall, this initiative aims to address common issues surrounding content editing mistakes and alleviate community frustration regarding YouTube’s guidelines.
