In a notable event held in Yobe state, the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) graciously bestowed upon Governor Mai Mala Buni the distinguished “Inclusive Governance” award.
This esteemed recognition unfolded amid the festive ambiance of a Christmas visit to the government house in Damaturu, where the Governor was not only acknowledged but celebrated for his commitment to fostering an inclusive and equitable form of governance.
The recognition serves as a testament to Governor Buni’s dedicated efforts in ensuring that governance transcends boundaries, embracing diversity and encompassing the interests of all citizens within Yobe state.
The ceremonious occasion marked a harmonious convergence of festive cheer and the acknowledgment of a leader’s steadfast pursuit of inclusive governance principles.
The CAN Chairman, Bishop Yohanna Audu, and association leaders presented the award, praising Governor Buni’s fair treatment of people from diverse ethnic, cultural, and religious backgrounds in his administration.
CAN commended Governor Buni for appointing individuals of various faiths and ethnicities, highlighting his commitment to peace and harmonious coexistence in the state.
“You won this prestigious award because of your style of leadership that carries everybody along irrespective of tribe, region, or religion,” CAN said.
They acknowledged the governor’s efforts in fostering a climate where people of different religions live together peacefully with love and trust.
the association organized a unity carol involving participants from the six North Eastern states, showcasing the state’s atmosphere of peace and tolerance.
They expressed gratitude for the Yobe state government’s initiatives, including providing bulls for festivals, offering palliatives to the less privileged, granting scholarships to foreign students, and allocating pilgrimage slots to its members.
Governor Buni, in response, assured the association of continued opportunities for all individuals regardless of their religion, ethnicity, or cultural background.
He emphasized that building a peaceful society is a collective responsibility, urging religious leaders to promote peace among their followers.
“We thank God for the stable peace we now enjoy across the state, and we all have roles to play in improving the relative peace enjoyed,” Gov Buni emphasized.
