Former Zamfara State Governor Abdulaziz Yari has formally accepted his latest responsibility within the All Progressives Congress (APC), declaring that the party’s “journey to victory begins” as it moves to consolidate President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda ahead of the 2027 elections.
Yari, in a statement following his emergence in the new role, described the responsibility as one he accepted with humility but also with a “firm commitment” to the task ahead, signalling his readiness to play a more prominent role as the ruling party begins what is expected to be an intense political battle.
“I once again accept this responsibility with humility and a firm commitment to the task ahead,” Yari said.
However, his declaration has added fresh political weight to the APC’s preparations, coming at a time when opposition parties are already positioning themselves for a fierce challenge to the ruling party in 2027.
Yari said he would work closely with APC leaders, members, stakeholders and supporters across the country to advance the party’s political objectives and consolidate the Renewed Hope Agenda.
“I look forward to working with our party leaders, members, stakeholders and supporters across the country as we embark on this important journey to consolidate the Renewed Hope Agenda,” he stated.
His message, particularly the declaration that “the journey to victory begins,” is likely to fuel speculation over the scale of the assignment handed to the former governor and the role he could play in the APC’s broader mobilisation strategy ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
Yari, a former governor of Zamfara State and former senator, is regarded as a prominent figure within the APC and has remained active in the party’s internal political affairs.
The former governor’s latest assignment also comes amid heightened political manoeuvring ahead of 2027, with the APC facing opposition parties seeking to build a coalition strong enough to unseat President Tinubu.
By openly framing the new assignment around victory, Yari appears to have signalled that the APC is already shifting from political positioning to active mobilisation, with the party preparing for a contest expected to be significantly more competitive.
While the former governor did not disclose specific strategies for achieving the stated victory, his message was unequivocal: the political machinery is moving, and he intends to be part of the effort to keep the APC in power beyond 2027.
