UPDATE: Boko Haram/ISWAP Attack in Borno: Lieutenant Colonel and Troops Killed Defending Kukawa

A devastating attack by suspected Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists on Kukawa Local Government Area of Borno State has resulted in the death of a commanding officer and some of his troops.
Lieutenant Colonel Umar Farouq, who was in charge of military operations in the area, along with his men, was killed while defending the community from insurgents.
Security sources confirmed the severity of the assault, stating that although the officer displayed gallantry in fending off the attackers, he and his team paid the ultimate price.
The full extent of casualties remains unclear as authorities have not yet issued an official statement.
Reports indicate that the terrorists approached from multiple directions before targeting a military base, looting weapons, ammunition, and setting several military vehicles on fire.
Lieutenant Colonel Farouq, who was leading counter-insurgency operations in the Kukawa area, is remembered for his bravery in the face of adversity.
