UCL Review: Newcastle smash PSG, Barcelona, and City edge their opponents

—

Round two of the match day two was witnessed yesterday at various stadiums. 17 goals were scored across 6 games, among which were 4 wins and two draws.

Newcastle United smashed their visitors to an emphatic victory on their turf. The five-goal thriller encounter highly favoured the Magpies, who hit 4-1 to keep their hope for the next round qualification burning. The Magpies, who are regarded as the underdogs due to their lack of experience in the Champions League, lead their table with 4 points after two games.

Ferran Torres’ loan goal earned all three points and a clean sheet for Barcelona away at Estadio Do Dragao. Ferran replaced Lewandowski in the 36th minute and set Barcelona ahead just before the half-whistle and fortunately for Barcelona, the goal stood until the end of the game. Barcelona are confident to scale through to the next round following their two wins in two and are top of their group with no goal conceded yet.

Manchester City also had a resplendent run in Germany to defeat RB Leipzig. Philip Foden, Alvarez, and Doku goals pulverized Leipzig on their turf. Although Leipzig got one back, it wasn’t enough to salvage a point against the defending champions. City also retains a 100% win record, winning two of their ties to go top of their group.

Lazio had defeated Celtic away in Scotland by 1-2.

Dortmund were held to a stalemate by Chukeueze’s AC Milan at full-time.

Crvena and Young Boys settle for a 2-2 draw after 90 minutes.
