UBEC Partners with Nigerian Air Force to Improve School Safety Nationwide

The Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) has announced a new partnership with the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) to help strengthen security in schools across the country.

UBEC Executive Secretary, Dr. Aisha Garba, revealed this in Abuja during a courtesy visit by the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, on Tuesday.

Dr. Garba commended the Air Force for its contributions to national development but expressed concern over growing insecurity affecting schools. She stressed that no education system can thrive when pupils and teachers feel unsafe.

She explained that the collaboration with the Air Force will support ongoing efforts to protect school environments, give parents confidence, and ensure that children can learn without fear.

“At UBEC, we understand that providing quality basic education to every Nigerian child requires strong partnerships. We can build classrooms and supply materials, but meaningful learning cannot happen when there is fear,” she said.

Dr. Garba reaffirmed the commission’s commitment to technical cooperation that improves school safety, learning standards, and the resilience of the basic education system.

In his remarks, Air Marshal Sunday Aneke highlighted the importance of the partnership. He described basic education as the foundation for discipline, innovation, responsible citizenship, and national development.

He added that the Nigerian Air Force will continue to support initiatives that align with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, noting that education is vital to building a stable and productive society.
