The Executive Secretary of the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), Dr. Aisha Garba Aisha M. Garba, has commended staff of the Commission for their dedication and commitment in driving key basic education initiatives across the country in 2025, while calling on them to remain motivated as UBEC prepares for more impactful interventions in 2026.
Dr. Garba gave the commendation during the first routine staff meeting of the Commission for the year 2026, held at the UBEC headquarters.
The meeting brought together management, union representatives, and staff across all levels of the organisation.
In attendance were the Deputy Executive Secretary (Technical), Mr. Rasaq Olajuwon Akinyemi, other members of management, union leaders, and staff members from various departments.
The Executive Secretary expressed appreciation for the collective efforts of staff in strengthening collaboration with critical stakeholders and advancing access to quality basic education nationwide.
She noted that the commitment and professionalism demonstrated by staff contributed significantly to improvements recorded in the sector.
“Your efforts have been instrumental in advancing our mandate. Let us build on this momentum as we move forward,” Dr. Garba said.
Looking ahead, the UBEC helmswoman outlined the Commission’s strategic focus for 2026, which includes enhanced capacity development, accelerated infrastructure delivery, and deliberate actions to improve learning outcomes in basic education.
She added that UBEC will also expand programmes that promote education innovation and digital learning as part of efforts to align basic education with emerging global trends.
Dr. Garba reaffirmed the Commission’s resolve to sustain reforms and interventions that will deepen access, equity, and quality in basic education across Nigeria, while urging staff to maintain the spirit of teamwork and excellence in service delivery.
The meeting provided an opportunity for management to engage staff, review progress, and align collective efforts with UBEC’s vision for a more inclusive and effective basic education system in 2026.
