The Kano State Police Command has apprehended two suspected armed robbers and recovered a stolen Ford Escape SUV reportedly owned by an officer of the Nigerian Air Force.
In a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abdullahi Kiyawa, it was revealed that operatives from the command’s Anti-Kidnapping Squad intercepted the vehicle along the Kano-Zaria Expressway on Thursday, following credible intelligence that the suspects were heading towards the state.
According to the statement obtained by The News Chronicle, the suspects, identified as Adamu Adam Abubakar and Umar Bello, were arrested after a brief exchange of gunfire, while another accomplice, identified as Dan Malam, managed to escape with a pistol and some stolen items.
The Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Bakori, praised the collaboration between the Intelligence Unit of the Force Headquarters in Abuja and the state command for their swift and coordinated response.
He also appealed to residents to continue providing actionable information that could help security agencies combat crime across the state. Bakori assured that efforts were ongoing to track down the fleeing suspect and bring him to justice.
