Former President Donald Trump has accused Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg of trying to undermine him during the 2020 election.
Trump suggested that Zuckerberg could face prison if he engages in any illegal activities during the upcoming 2024 Presidential Election.
These accusations are detailed in Trump’s upcoming book, Save America, which is scheduled for release on September 3, 2024.
Trump also criticized Zuckerberg and his wife, Priscilla Chan, for donating $420 million during the COVID-19 pandemic to help state and local governments conduct elections.
He referred to these donations as “Zuckerbucks,” claiming they unfairly favored one political party.
Despite opposition from his party, Trump has shown support for TikTok, arguing that banning the platform would benefit Facebook and Zuckerberg.
In response to the criticisms, Zuckerberg has denied any partisan intent behind the donations and emphasized his intention to remain neutral in future elections.
He also expressed regret for not being more vocal against government pressure during the pandemic.
The tension between Trump and Zuckerberg is not new.
Meta banned Trump from Facebook and Instagram following the January 6, 2021, Capitol riot. Since then, Trump has launched his own platform, Truth Social, to share his views.
Republicans have continued to scrutinize Meta, particularly concerning its handling of stories related to Hunter Biden’s laptop and content moderation during the pandemic.
In his book, Trump reflected on his past interactions with Zuckerberg, hinting that, despite their friendly meetings, Zuckerberg might have been working against him.
