Troops rescues 20 kidnap victims, eliminates terrorist leader in Zamfara State

The soldiers from the Joint Task Force North West, Operation HADARIN DAJI, have achieved another success in their ongoing mission to clear out terrorists during the dry season in Zamfara state.

In their recent operation on January 29, 2024, the troops successfully rescued 20 kidnap victims without any harm.

They also eliminated two terrorists, including a notorious leader named Sainaje from Katsina state, in separate operations conducted in Zamfara.

The OPHD troops carried out continuous clearance operations in various areas, such as Rukudawa, Dumburum, Tsanu, Birnin Tsaba, Magare, and Shamushalle.

These areas, located in Zurmi and Birnin Magaji LGAs of Zamfara state, were targeted to dismantle terrorists’ enclaves.

During the operation, the troops destroyed all discovered terrorists’ enclaves, including that of a notorious terrorist kingpin identified as Sule.

The aggressive troops engaged in heavy contact with the terrorists, forcing them to flee their camps.

As a result, the troops neutralized two terrorists, including the leader Sainaje from Katsina state. This action led to the rescue of 18 kidnap victims, consisting of 4 males, 14 females, and children.

Additionally, Operation HADARIN DAJI troops rescued two victims who were abducted by terrorists while traveling along Shinkafi-Isa road in Zamfara state.

The captors abandoned the victims during a gun duel with the highly motivated troops, whose prompt response led to the successful rescue.

All the rescued victims have been handed over to the appropriate authorities to facilitate their reunion with their families.

Major General Godwin Mutkut, the Commander of Joint Task Force North West Operation HADARIN DAJI and General Officer Commanding 8 Division Nigerian Army, commended the troops for their unwavering determination and resilience in restoring normalcy to the Northwest region.
