Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have repelled a coordinated attack by Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists on a military base in Adamawa State, killing six insurgents and recovering a cache of weapons, ammunition and combat equipment.
The attack targeted the Forward Operating Base (FOB) Garaha in Hong Local Government Area at about 9:07 p.m., when the terrorists advanced on foot from the LAR axis in an apparent attempt to overrun the military position.
However, the troops of Sector 4, Joint Task Force (North East), responded with superior firepower and tactical coordination, forcing the attackers to retreat.
A subsequent search of the area led to the discovery of six terrorist corpses, confirming the neutralisation of six insurgents.
In a statement dated October 13, 2026, and signed by Captain Mohammed Goni, Acting Military Information Officer at the Headquarters of the Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI, the military said troops recovered a substantial cache of weapons and ammunition during the operation.
The recovered items include one PKT machine gun, three ammunition belts containing 67 rounds, six AK-47 rifles, 11 AK-47 magazines, 157 rounds of 7.62mm NATO ammunition, 120 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition and one 60mm mortar bomb.
Other items recovered from the scene include an Infinix Android phone, a Canon portable video recorder, three camelback water bags, a magazine carrier and assorted clothing.
The military, however, disclosed that troops sustained casualties during the encounter, adding that injured personnel were receiving medical attention while evacuation arrangements were ongoing.
It said troops had maintained heightened vigilance and continued operations around the area to prevent further attacks and recover additional items of operational significance.
The successful repulsion of the assault, the statement noted, demonstrated the combat readiness, resilience and determination of Operation HADIN KAI troops to defend military positions and weaken terrorist capabilities across the North-East.
The Theatre Command reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining aggressive, intelligence-driven operations to deny insurgents freedom of action, protect vulnerable communities and strengthen ongoing efforts to restore lasting peace and security in the region.
