Troops of the 25 Task Force Brigade on a routine patrol to secure communities around Wajiroko in Azir Multe, Damboa Local Government Area of Borno State, came under sudden and heavy fire from insurgents as they returned from a successful operation around the edges of the Sambisa Forest.
The patrol team, led by the Commander of the 25 Brigade, Brigadier General M. Uba, included soldiers and members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF).
They bravely fought through the ambush using superior firepower, forcing the insurgents to retreat in disarray and abandon their mission.
Unfortunately, two soldiers and two CJTF members lost their lives in the encounter while serving the nation.
The Army high command praised the troops for their courage and extended condolences to the families and loved ones of the fallen heroes.
The Army Headquarters also dismissed false reports circulating online that the Brigade Commander had been abducted.
The public is urged to ignore such misinformation and continue to pray for the success of the country’s security forces.
The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, Nigerian Army Medal, commended the troops for their exceptional bravery, resilience, and sacrifice.
He noted that their unwavering commitment despite extreme danger demonstrates the daily sacrifices made by Nigeria’s servicemen and women to keep the nation safe.
