Troops Overrun Bandit Hideouts in Bauchi, Kill Fighters and Recover Weapons

The Nigerian Army has recorded fresh successes in its ongoing clearance operations against bandit groups in Bauchi State, sustaining pressure on criminal enclaves across the region.

Troops of the 33 Artillery Brigade, working in collaboration with the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA), carried out a coordinated operation in the Dajin Madam Forest.

The mission led to the destruction of several notorious bandit camps, including Azuge and Hari camps, significantly disrupting criminal activities in the area.

During the operation, a number of bandits were neutralized, while others fled under intense military pressure. Troops also took into custody 19 individuals, comprising six women and 13 children, believed to be family members of the fleeing suspects.

Security forces recovered a cache of items, including an AK-47 magazine, tramadol packs, a police uniform, multiple military uniforms, and two horses. Several motorcycles used by the bandits were destroyed to limit their mobility and operational capacity.

Troops have since established a firm hold in the forest to consolidate gains and prevent the return of fleeing elements.

In a related development, soldiers conducted a follow-up clearance mission to Mainamaji after recent air strikes on bandit hideouts.

The operation recorded no contact, indicating that sustained military offensives have significantly weakened the presence and movement of bandits in the area.

The Nigerian Army reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining pressure on criminal groups until peace and security are fully restored, urging members of the public to continue providing timely and credible information to security agencies.
