Troops Foil Bomb Attack, Neutralise Suspected Terrorists on Maiduguri–Konduga Road

Troops of 222 Battalion have foiled an attempted improvised explosive device (IED) attack and neutralised suspected terrorists along the Maiduguri–Konduga–Kawuri road in Borno State.
Security sources disclosed that the incident occurred at about 11:30 p.m. on Thursday when an ambush team positioned along the main supply route sighted a group of suspected terrorists attempting to plant an IED.
According to the sources, the troops swiftly closed in on the suspects and engaged them with a rocket-propelled grenade, which triggered an explosion that neutralised members of the group.
The sources noted that the suspects were believed to be an IED-laying party targeting the busy route frequently used by security personnel and civilians.
During a follow-up exploitation of the scene, troops reportedly recovered two AK-47 rifles. A further detailed search of the area, however, did not yield additional significant items.
The Maiduguri–Konduga–Kawuri axis remains a critical supply route, with troops maintaining heightened surveillance to prevent attacks and ensure safe movement.
Security sources added that troops’ morale and operational efficiency remained high, while monitoring and clearance operations were ongoing across the area
