Troops Bust Illegal Arms Factories In Plateau, Arrest Five Suspects

Troops of Operation Enduring Peace (OPEP) have uncovered illegal arms production factories allegedly operated by suspected Berom militia members in Plateau State, arresting five suspects during coordinated raids in Jos South Local Government Area.

Security sources said troops recovered nine fabricated AK-47 rifles, a locally made pistol, incomplete rifle frames, magazines, ammunition shells, and several weapon-making tools during the intelligence-led operation carried out in the Vom area.

According to reports, the raid followed weeks of covert surveillance targeting illegal arms networks suspected of fueling violent attacks and reprisals across Plateau communities.

The suspects are currently in custody as investigations continue, while security forces have launched further operations to track other illegal arms manufacturers and recover illicit weapons circulating in the state.

The latest discovery comes amid ongoing insecurity and recurring attacks in parts of Plateau State, including Barkin Ladi, Riyom, Mangu, and Bokkos local government areas.
