Good morning! In today’s trending news stories;

1. The Allied Peoples Movement (APM) has filed 10 grounds of Appeal before the Supreme Court,
challenging the decision of the Presidential Election Petition Court (PEPC) which granted victory to
Tinubu as president of Nigeria. The party called for the annulment of Bola Tinubu as Nigeria’s president on grounds of the numerous errors of law surrounding his election as president. The notice of appeal was filed by its
new counsel Chukwuma Machukwu Ume. The appeal read, “Sections 131 and 142 (1) of the 1999
Constitution is inextricably linked and neither can be confined as a pre-election matter, as these
qualifications are conditions precedent to, for being elected into the office of President.”

2. In a statement on Thursday, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, the Minister of Interior, made a declaration that
Monday, October 2, will be a public holiday for the commemoration of the Independence Day
celebration. He reckoned that in spite of the Socio-Economic and Security challenges Nigeria faces, it
would remain the pride of Africa and a beacon of hope.

3. Kano Businessman, Alhaji Saadna Dantata, has launched a new online payment app, Kiya App to rival
OPay, Kuda, Moniepoint, amongst others. The new app which is committed to security, speed, and
customer satisfaction, is supported by investors spanning Nigeria, Africa, Turkey, and United Arab Emirates.
According to Dantata, “It is powered by Web3 technology… targeted at changing the narratives of
technology-driven payments platforms in Africa and across the world.”

4. Google has launched a new initiative called the Hustle Academy SMB Fund aimed at supporting
Nigerian Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs). The 75 million naira equity-free fund will help
business owners in Nigeria by providing resources that will aid the success of their businesses. The application is
currently open.

5. WhatsApp has announced that its platform will only run on specific Android and IOS devices.
Smartphones that run on Android 4.0 or below and iPhones with operating systems below iOS 12 will
be enabled to access the messaging app on Tuesday, 24 October. WhatsApp explained that, “To
keep up with the latest advances in technology, we routinely stop supporting older operating systems to
point our resources to supporting the latest ones.”

6. Highly-anticipated Prime Video mini-series “SHE must be obeyed” premiered in Lagos at the IMAX
Cinema in Lekki Phase 1, Lagos State. The movie is a collaboration between Funke Akindele and her ex-
husband, JJC Skills. The five-episode series will debut exclusively on Prime Video on 29th September. It
stars some of Nollywood’s top-rated stars including, Lateef Adedimeji, Nancy Isime, Funke Akindele,
Waje, amongst others.

7. The police authority has announced the arrest of Balogun Olamilekan Eletu, widely known as Sam
Larry. The arrest was made based on his connection with the death of Nigerian rapper, Mohbad. While
Sam Larry and his alibi, Naira Marley have denied claims of being involved with Mohbad’s death, Benjamin
Hundeyin, the spokesperson of the Lagos State Police Command, confirmed that Larry is providing
information regarding the deceased rapper. The arrest was made on Thursday around 10:00 p.m. on his
arrival to Nigeria from Kenya. He arrived at the police headquarters in Lagos at 10:30 p.m.
