Good morning! In today’s trending news stories:

1. Chicago State University Registrar revealed the number of inquiries it has received due to President Tinubu’s involvement with the institution. He said the institution received five to thirty inquiries on a daily basis on Tinubu. He also confirmed the gender controversy. “I see the application to CSU. Mr. Tinubu identified himself as a male. His letter of admission identified him as a male,” he said. “We believe Bola Tinubu who attended CSU is the same person who is the president of Nigeria today,”  he added.

2. The Governor of Kano State, Abba Yusuf has declared Wednesday, October 4, as a public holiday for residents of Kano State. This was to honor the birth of Prophet Muhammed. He urged the residents to model the good virtues the Prophet portrayed.

3. The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) officially verified the registration status of Eriscofoods’ Nagiko Tomato Mix. The agency took to social media to confirm that the tomato mix NAFDAC Registration Number A8-7430 had indeed been registered product in 2021. It also confirmed that the sugar content met health and safety requirements. Recall that the Tomato mix had been negatively criticized by Chioma Egodi on social media, leading to a backlash from the company.

4. The Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC) is set to pay over N16 billion as a liquidation dividend to the depositors, creditors, and shareholders of 20 failed banks. Some of the banks such as Financial Merchant Bank go as far back as 1994 (29 years ago) when it shut down. Bashir Nuhu, the Director of Communication and Public Affairs of NDIC, made this known in Abuja, on Monday, October 2, 2023.

5. Pope Francis has raised clouds of dust amongst anti-LGBT catholic members by suggesting his willingness for same-sex marriages to be blessed by the church. “We cannot be judges who only deny, reject and exclude,” he said.

6. 24-year-old French footballer Kylian Mbappe makes an unusual request for hand warmers due to Newcastle’s cold weather when he stepped out at St James’ Park for the time on Tuesday evening. The player had once been filmed saying “Newcastle? It’s not very warm there, eh?”

7. Nigerian singer, Naira Marley has been taken into custody for interrogation regarding 27-year-old rapper Mohbad who was formerly signed to his record label before his death on September 12.  While the autopsy has been concluded, the results are yet to be known.
