In a tragic bus crash involving students from Kenyatta University, ten of the students died immediately upon impact, with another person succumbing to injuries later in the hospital.
In addition, 42 passengers sustained serious injuries as a result of the collision.
The accident occurred when a bus carrying students from the university collided with a truck on a busy highway near Maungu, approximately 360 kilometers from Nairobi, as heavy rain caused the bus to plunge off the road.Â
The driver of the university bus attempted to overtake a line of vehicles in the rain, leading to the skid that caused the collision with the truck.
The injured were promptly taken to a hospital in Voi for medical attention.
