Tinubu Renews Ayo Omotayo’s Appointment as NIPSS DG for Final Four-Year Term

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the renewal of the appointment of Professor Ayo Omotayo as the Director-General of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru, Plateau State.

The renewal, which grants Omotayo a final four-year term, was disclosed in a statement by presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga, made available to The News Chronicle.

Omotayo was first appointed by former President Muhammadu Buhari in November 2021 to lead the nation’s foremost policy think tank, with the Senate confirming the appointment in February 2022.

A Professor of Environmental Sustainability, Omotayo obtained his PhD in Geography from the University of Ibadan, where he studied between 1980 and 1990.

He began his academic career at Lagos State University in 1985 and quickly rose through the ranks, becoming a Senior Lecturer in 1992 at the age of 30.

He later served as Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences at the university from 2012 to 2017 and was Director of the Centre for Planning before his appointment as Director-General of NIPSS in 2021.
