The Coalition of South-East Youth Leaders (COSEYL) has thrown its weight behind Senator Orji Uzor Kalu (APC–Abia North), applauding him as the most outstanding legislator since Nigeria’s return to civilian rule in 1999.
In a communiqué released in Abakaliki on Wednesday and jointly signed by the group’s President-General, Mr. Goodluck Ibem, and Publicity Secretary, Mr. Okey Nwaoru, COSEYL described the former Abia governor as the strongest political force driving the fortunes of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the South-East.
According to the youth leaders, Senator Kalu has consistently delivered tangible results for his constituents since his election to the Senate in 2019, citing his interventions in road construction, rural electrification, water projects, educational scholarships, youth empowerment, and healthcare delivery across the five local government areas of Abia North.
The communique, which was obtained by The News Chronicle, reads “Sen. Kalu is a transformative leader whose passion for service and accessibility to the people has set a new benchmark in Abia North”.
The coalition further hailed him as the “face of the APC in Abia State,” noting that his leadership style has deepened the party’s grassroots influence and positioned it for victory in the 2027 polls.
“It is no surprise that under his leadership, we can confidently predict overwhelming support for the APC in the coming elections,” the group said.
Highlighting the alliance between Senator Kalu and President Bola Tinubu, the group stressed that the partnership was crucial to ensuring national cohesion and inclusive growth.
“The partnership between our senator and President Tinubu is a strong pillar for peace, progress and equitable development in Nigeria,” COSEYL added.
The youth leaders dismissed criticisms directed at the senator as mere “politically motivated attacks,” insisting that he remains steadfast in his commitment to service and the advancement of APC’s ideals.
“COSEYL affirms that 2027 is a done deal. The people of Abia North are mobilised to ensure Kalu’s re-election and to secure a resounding victory for the APC,” the statement concluded.
Kalu, a two-term former governor of Abia State and one-time Chief Whip of the 9th Senate, is widely regarded as one of the most influential political figures of the APC in the South-East.
