Tinubu Jets Out for France, Kenya, Rwanda as Global Summits Beckon

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will depart Abuja on Saturday, May 2, for a multi-country diplomatic tour spanning France, Kenya, and Rwanda, where he is set to engage in high-level international meetings.

A statement released by the Presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga and made available to The News Chronicle said the trip will kick off in France before the President proceeds to Nairobi for the Africa-France Summit.

According to the statement, the summit, co-chaired by Emmanuel Macron and William Ruto, will spotlight critical issues including energy transition, green industrialisation, digital transformation, climate action, and reforms to global financing systems.

Scheduled for May 11–12 under the theme “Africa Forward: Africa-France Partnerships for Innovation and Growth,” the gathering will convene African and French leaders to drive discussions on economic transformation, infrastructure, youth empowerment, technological advancement, and peace-building.

Tinubu will then head to Kigali, Rwanda, for the Africa CEO Forum from May 14–15. The forum, themed “Scale or Fail,” is organised in partnership with the International Finance Corporation and is expected to draw over 2,000 business leaders, investors, and policymakers.

At both events, the president is expected to pitch Nigeria’s economic reform agenda and position the country as a prime investment destination. He will also hold bilateral talks with global and African business leaders on the sidelines.

The statement noted that Tinubu will travel with senior government officials and is expected back in Nigeria after concluding his engagements in Rwanda.
