President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of Dr. Olugbemisola Titilayo Odusote as the Director-General of the Nigerian Law School, effective January 10, 2026, for a four-year term.
At 57, Dr. Odusote, currently Deputy Director-General and Head of the Lagos Campus, will make history as the first woman to lead the institution since its establishment in 1962. She succeeds Professor Isa Hayatu Chiroma, whose eight-year tenure ends on January 9.
A distinguished legal scholar, Odusote earned her LL.B and LL.M in Company and Commercial Law from Obafemi Awolowo University and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1988.
She later obtained a PhD in Law from the University of Surrey, UK, focusing on Public Law and the administration of justice.
Joining the Law School in 2001 as a lecturer, she has held key roles including Head of Academic Department, Director of Academics, and Head of Lagos Campus, and was briefly a visiting scholar at Nottingham Trent University, UK.
Odusote is widely published in local and international law journals and has presented at numerous legal education conferences.
She has also contributed to committees of the Council of Legal Education and the Nigerian Bar Association.
As Director-General, she will oversee the school’s academic leadership, administrative management, and strategic direction across all campuses, while serving as the primary link with the Council of Legal Education, the Body of Benchers, and the Nigerian Bar Association.
