Tinubu and his hpypocritical Presidency.

Action they say speaks louder than words. If this be true then Governors and all Nigerians should discountenace the words of Mr President. Bola Ahmed Tinubu when he said;

“It’s time for governance; set political differences aside during Iftar at the Presidential Villa.

President Bola Tinubu had called on state governors to set aside political differences and collaborate with the federal government to build the nation.

Speaking during the breaking of Ramadan fast with governors at the State House in Abuja, on Thursday, President Tinubu emphasized the importance of transitioning from politics to governance, noting the need for unity and cooperation among all stakeholders.

”Since we recognize the need to build our nation together, the time for politics is over. It is now time for governance.

”We are of the same family and parents;”, really! “Living in the same house, but sleeping in different rooms. We must cooperate and spread love among each other,” the President said.

Highlighting the significance of the holy month of Ramadan and the Lenten season for Christians, President Tinubu urged Nigerians to use this solemn occasion for reflection, prayers, and charity towards others.

Acknowledging the difficulties facing the nation, President Tinubu expressed optimism about the future, noting that the challenges are beginning to respond to the solutions being implemented by his administration.

”I am glad that the headwinds are almost over. The tunnel is not as dark as when we started. It is going to be brighter and brighter. We must communicate with each other, stick together, and share joy,” the President said.

Is politics really over for Mr President?

The day before had presented the President the opportunity to demonstrate the need of the moment; nation building above mundane and divisive politics by his appointment of Dr Ruby Onwudiwe to fill the South East vacancy on the Board of CBN.

Political Observers and Analysts were already celebrating the magnanimity of the appointment as a proof that the President is ready for governance and productivity when the President through a letter to the Senate made a u-turn.

President Bola Tinubu reportedly withdrew the nomination of Dr. Ruby Onwudiwe as a member of the Board of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

The President via a letter to the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio which was read on the floor of the Upper Chamber of the National Assembly requested her confirmation as the representative of the South East on the board of the apex bank.

Immediately after the news of her nomination, screenshot of her social media surfaced where she flaunted her support for Labour Party (LP) and its Presidential candidate, Peter Obi in last election and a display of the result of the presidential election at a polling unit in Lekki part of Lagos where the LP candidate won.

The screenshot angered All Progressives Congress (APC) supporters who protested strongly to senior government officials on the abnormality of the nomination of an opposition figure to serve at the apex bank.

The protest against her nomination by APC supporters allegedly got to President Tinubu late on Wednesday night through the Senate Majority Leader, Opeyemi Bamidele and Chairman of Appropriation Committee, Olamilekan Solomon Adeola who pointed out the impropriety of the nomination to the President.

President Tinubu immediately requested the Senate to step down the nomination.

A new nominee from the South East with required qualifications and experience would be presented to the Senate for confirmation according to the report.

Disappointingly, the President on the same day he yielded to the political cry of his supporters would plead with Governors to leave politics behind and embrace nation building towards good governance.

If the President recognizes the need for us to build our nation together and that the time for politics was over as he emphasized; “It is now time for governance”. Then his approach should have been different. The President further said;

”We are of the same family and parents; living in the same house, but sleeping in different rooms. We must cooperate and spread love amongst each other,” when the opportunity presented itself to him to spread love, he did the opposite like his political crowd on social media. The President who called out those in the room of Labour Party to come to the corridor of our Father’s house; Nigeria, to cooperates with him to build was the same person who pushed Ruby back and slammed the door on her face.

This do as I say and not as I do attitude of Mr. President has sent a wrong signal to the opposition. The President and the Senators who ill-advise him have strengthened the hatred movement on the social media and among Nigerians.

May Nigeria succeed!
