TikTok has launched Lead Genie, an artificial intelligence chatbot designed to help businesses respond to direct messages and manage customer enquiries on the platform.
Lead Genie uses AI to answer common questions based on information that businesses upload about their products or services. Once activated, it can reply to messages at any time of the day and aims to keep response times low. According to TikTok, businesses that reply to customers within three minutes can increase conversion rates by 2.2 times.
A TikTok spokesperson said the tool was developed to help brands maintain quick and consistent communication without increasing staffing demands.
“Businesses that can respond promptly to customer queries often see a significant boost in engagement and lead quality,” the spokesperson said.
An early user, DrHoat, a business in Vietnam, reported that using Lead Genie reduced its cost per lead by 80%. The company also said it saved 300 staff hours each day and recorded more than $23,000 in daily revenue after adopting the chatbot. These results have not been independently verified.
Lead Genie currently focuses on automating direct message conversations, but TikTok has indicated that the tool may later connect with customer relationship management systems and analytics platforms. Possible future features include tracking how conversations lead to sales or sign-ups and providing developers with integration options through APIs or webhooks.
TikTok said the feature is intended for companies of various sizes, including retail, hospitality, and service-based businesses that depend on timely replies to secure customer interest. Businesses can enable the chatbot in the Message Centre under the Business Suite.
TikTok plans to expand its business tools and support companies using the platform for marketing and sales.
