Three Freshers Kidnapped as Gunmen Invade FULafia Off-Campus Residence

Federal University of Lafia (FULafia) has been thrown into panic after suspected gunmen abducted three 100-level students from their off-campus residence in Lafia, the Nasarawa State capital.

The students were reportedly kidnapped at about 8:45 p.m. on Saturday, July 25, 2026, during an attack on Sure Leaders Lodge in the Bukan Kwato area of the city.

A student, who spoke on condition of anonymity for security reasons, confirmed the incident, saying the victims were taken away by the assailants, leaving fellow students in fear.

As of the time of filing this report, the Nasarawa State Police Command had yet to issue an official statement on the abduction.

Meanwhile, the Students’ Union Government (SUG) of the university has confirmed the incident and said it is working with traditional leaders, the university management and other relevant authorities to secure the safe release of the abducted students.

In a public safety notice issued on Sunday and jointly signed by SUG President Jabir Ibrahim and Secretary-General Ibrahim Aliyu, the union disclosed that it had already met with the District Head and was collaborating with the university management to strengthen security measures.

The union appealed to students to remain calm, vigilant and avoid spreading unverified information while efforts to rescue the victims continue.
