A total of 1,501 members of the 2026 Batch C Stream I National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) have officially taken the Oath of Allegiance at the NYSC Orientation Camp in Dazigau, Nangere Local Government Area of Yobe State.
The swearing-in ceremony marked the formal commencement of the corps members’ service year and attracted government officials, NYSC authorities and other dignitaries.
Representing Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, the Commissioner for Youth, Sports, Social and Community Development, Alhaji Barma Shettima, assured the corps members of the state government’s commitment to their welfare and safety throughout their service year.
The governor urged the corps members to actively participate in the orientation programme and make meaningful contributions to their host communities during their national service.
The NYSC Yobe State Coordinator, Mr Okochi Okpara, welcomed the corps members and expressed appreciation to the Yobe State Government for its continued support for the NYSC scheme.
Justice Adamu M. Jajere, representing the Chief Judge of Yobe State, administered the Oath of Allegiance to the 1,501 registered corps members, formally inducting them into the national service.
The ceremony also featured a Man O’ War bottle-filling competition between the Governor’s team and the NYSC Director-General’s team. The Governor’s team emerged victorious and received a N100,000 cash prize, while the runners-up received N50,000.
The prizes were presented by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Youth, Sports, Social and Community Development, Alhaji Muhammad Abubakar Gidado.
The event ended with three hearty cheers led by the Overall Parade Commander, Emmanuel Jeremiah Ableaba (YB/26C/0004), followed by a group photograph involving the corps members and state officials.
