They Said I Wanted to Kill Tinubu- Shettima Breaks Silence on Efforts to Break His Bond With Tinubu

Vice-President Kashim Shettima has disclosed that some individuals allegedly attempted to create a rift between him and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu just three months after they assumed office in 2023.

Speaking at the public presentation of “My Life of Duty and Allegiance”, the autobiography of former Head of State, General Yakubu Gowon, Shettima said the unnamed individuals, who he noted were from Borno State, falsely told President Tinubu that he was plotting to kill him and take over power.

According to him, the President quickly dismissed the allegation after he sought clarification, describing the claims as illogical and politically motivated.

Shettima recounted that the same individuals also raised suspicion over personal gifts he had previously given Tinubu during the presidential campaign, claiming they were linked to sinister intentions.

“The President had called me and said, ‘Sit down! Your people came to me and said, ‘ Stop wearing those Shettima’s clothes,’” he said, adding that Tinubu ultimately rejected the claims and continued to wear the outfits.

He added that President Tinubu saw through the allegations and remained unfazed, stressing that the story did not add up.

Shettima urged Nigerians to reject divisive politics and instead embrace unity, calling on citizens to act as their brother’s keeper rather than merchants of division.
