Taylor Swift has reached a new streaming record after the release of “I Knew It, I Knew You,” her original song for Toy Story 5.
The single debuted on Friday and quickly became the biggest soundtrack single debut in Apple Music history. It also became the most-streamed country song in a single day by a female artist on Spotify.
Apple Music also recognized the track as its biggest country single of 2026 based on first-day streams, while Amazon Music reported that it recorded the largest global first-day streaming debut of any song on the service this year.
Swift described the project as a return to familiar musical territory, saying, “Writing this song felt like a musical departure and coming home at the same time.”
The song was co-written with longtime collaborator Jack Antonoff and is inspired by Jessie, the cowgirl character voiced by Joan Cusack since Toy Story 2.
The accompanying music video combines scenes from earlier Toy Story films with new footage from Toy Story 5. It follows Jessie’s journey from meeting Woody and Buzz Lightyear to memories of her previous owner, ending with a young girl playing with the Jessie doll.
The video’s availability on Spotify and Apple Music concentrated audience demand, helping the song achieve record first-day streaming figures across multiple platforms.
The soundtrack for Toy Story 5 is scheduled for release later this month. It remains unclear whether Swift will have a voice role in the film in addition to contributing its lead single.
