Tambuwal Calls for Urgent Action on Insecurity Following the Killing of Emir Isa Bawa by Bandits

The immediate former Governor of Sokoto State, Senator Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, has expressed deep concern over Nigeria’s deteriorating security situation, emphasizing the urgent need for decisive action.

Senator Tambuwal, who now represents Sokoto North in the Senate, made this statement following the tragic killing of the Emir of Gobir, Isa Bawa, by bandits.

He described the incident as a “barbaric act” and a harsh reminder of the grave security challenges facing the nation.

In a heartfelt condolence message on Thursday, Tambuwal extended his sympathies to the family of the late emir, as well as to the people of Gatawa in Sabon Birni Local Government Area, where the tragedy occurred.

The former Speaker of the House of Representatives called on Nigeria’s security agencies to bring the killers of Emir Isa Bawa to justice and to redouble their efforts in safeguarding the peace and stability of the country.

“With profound sorrow and a heavy heart, I mourn the tragic loss of His Royal Highness, Alhaji Isa Bawa, the District Head of Gatawa in Sabon Birni Local Government. His life was cruelly taken by his abductors, leaving an immeasurable void in our communities,” Tambuwal said in his statement.

He continued, “This barbaric act is a stark reminder of the challenges we face as a nation. I condemn it in the strongest terms and urge the authorities to swiftly bring the perpetrators to justice. Our nation’s security situation demands urgent attention, and I call upon our security agencies to intensify their efforts to apprehend those who threaten our peace and stability.”

Tambuwal also expressed his thoughts and prayers for the late emir’s family, friends, the Sultanate Council of Sokoto, and the people of Gatawa and Sabon Birni during this difficult time.

He concluded his message by paying tribute to the legacy of the late Emir, hoping that his dedication to selfless service would continue to inspire others.

“May the soul of His Royal Highness find eternal peace, and may his legacy of selfless service continue to inspire us all,” Tambuwal added.

The killing of Emir Isa Bawa is the latest in a series of violent incidents that have underscored the deepening security crisis in Nigeria, particularly in the northern regions where banditry and abductions have become rampant.

The need for more effective security measures and a coordinated response to these threats remains a pressing issue for the Nigerian government and its security forces.
