It appears the gloomy clouds over popular embattled Enugu native doctor, Obieze Ezeani, popularly known as ‘E Dey Play E Dey Show’, as the Police in Anambra State have arrested an ally of his.
Recall that the native doctor was arrested in May last year, while trying to escape from the country, after his home in Enugu State was busted and decomposing bodies were found in his compound, including that of a pregnant woman.
In Anambra, police operatives attached to Rapid Response Squad (RRS), Awkuzu arrested one Friday Akonobi, a 28-year-old male suspect, citing complicity in the murder of one Miss Ozioma Nwankwo, a six-year-old girl, who was abducted on 10th May, 2025.
In a press release made available to The News Chronicle, the Police Public Relations Officer of Anambra State Police Command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga said Akonobi and four others who are at large acted as agents to provide virgin girls to the native doctor for N1million reward.
The release read: “Acting on credible information in the early hours of 17th January, 2026, police arrested one Friday Akonobi over the murder of Miss Ozioma Nwankwo, a six-year-old girl who was abducted on 10th May, 2025.
“Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect was allegedly involved in the abduction of Late Miss Ozioma Nwankwo, a six-year old girl who was abducted from Ikwo Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.
“The arrest is in connection with a case linked to an Enugu-based alleged native doctor, Obieze Ezeani, popularly known as “Edey Play Edey Show.”
“During interrogation, the suspect allegedly confessed to committing the crime in collaboration with four other accomplices currently at large.
“He stated that the victim was taken to Enugu to the alleged native doctor Obieze Ezeani, and claimed that he and his accomplices acted as agents for him as he pays them the sum of One Million Naira (₦1,000,000.00) each for any virgin girl brought to him.
“He further stated that the victim was murdered and used for rituals.”
TNC can confirm that the popular native doctor is still being remanded in prison custody, where he is awaiting trial for other crimes linked to him.
