Sunshine Stars of Akure club bus attacked by Gunmen, victims suffer severe injuries

Nigerian club Sunshine Stars FC of Akure has released a statement on how the team’s bus was brutally attacked along Ore-Benin ExpressWay while they were travelling to Edo to honour their NPFL league game against Bendel Insurance.

“It saddens our hearts to inform Nigerians, especially football lovers, that our team was attacked a few minutes ago along Ore-Benin Expressway to honour an Elite League tie, against Insurance of Benin, scheduled for this weekend.”

According to the Akure-based club, The team ball boy was shot, manager and other club officials, including players, were severely injured.

“Our ball boy was shot in the horrible attack, Our team manager and other club officials, including players are seriously injured.”

The injured victims were rescued by the men of the Road Safety Corps and are now receiving treatment.

Recall that on Tuesday, we reported that FC ONE Rocket, Abat was attacked along the Onitsha-Owerri road while returning from Lagos where they honoured a league game against Ikorodu FC of Lagos.
