Sultan vows to persist until victims of Kaduna airstrikes receive justice

The Sultan of Sokoto, Dr. Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, has strongly called for justice for the victims of military airstrikes that claimed the lives of over 100 people in Tudun Biri village, Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State. 

Expressing his concern at the Silver Anniversary celebration of the 11th Emir of Jama’a, Alhaji (Dr) Muhammad Isa Muhammad (CON), held at the Emir’s Palace in Kafanchan, Kaduna, on Friday, the Sultan emphasized their commitment to pushing for justice until it is achieved.

During the event, the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, expressed deep regret over the unfortunate incident in Kaduna.

“Our duty is to protect the citizens, we are going to take a serious action to make sure something like this is not going to happen again anywhere in the country. The president has ordered a thorough investigation on it,” he said.

He pledged serious action to prevent any recurrence across the country, assuring that a thorough investigation, ordered by the president, is underway.

In his remarks, Emir of Zazzau, Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli, who is also the Chairman of the Council of Chiefs and Emirs in Kaduna State, underscored the need for constitutional recognition of traditional rulers, emphasizing their close connection to grassroots communities.

He seized the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the Emir to call for unity among the people of Southern Kaduna, urging efforts towards peace in the region.

Expressing gratitude, the Emir of Jama’a, Alhaji Muhammad Isa Muhammad, acknowledged the support and prayers from the Kaduna State government and others who contributed to his success.

The anniversary gathering boasted the presence of dignitaries such as the Chairman of the Council of Emirs and Chiefs in Kaduna State, Emir of Zazzau Alhaji Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli, Emir of Kagara from Niger state, and former governors of Kaduna state; Col. Umar Faruk Ahmad (rtd) and Senator Ahmed Muhammed Makarfi. Chiefs and emirs from Lere, Saminaka, Gwantu, Jaba, Ninzo, Ayu, Kaninkon, Kagoro, Kamantan, Barde, Godogodo, Bajju, emir of Kanam in Plateau state, and the representative of the emir of Keffi, Nasarawa State, among others, were also in attendance.
