States Prohibiting Alcohol Shouldn’t Share VAT On Beer- Ex-Minister

Former Minister of Health Professor Isaac Adewole, has stated that states banning alcohol should not benefit from the Value Added Tax’s proceeds.

The Ex-Health Minister who made this known on Channels Television added that Nigeria needs to look at how resources are shared.

While describing himself as an apostle of fiscal and physical federalism, Adewole averred further; “If you have a law that prevents you from selling alcohol, that law should also prevent you from sharing money from alcohol.

“We should be honest with ourselves. States that prohibit the sale of alcohol should not share out of VAT from alcohol. Straight forward.”
